Here are some of the Pre-Wedding photos taken for Deqi and Amelia last year. Totally forgotten to post this into the blog, I guess I was just too busy. Anway all good fun, did the photoshoot in several places, took a whole day to complete the shoot. Weather was good, so the shoot turned out great.
Did a fun fill sunday photo shoot at Cheryl house’s in Feb. It’s a pregnancy shoot at the comfort of their own cosy home.
Mother to be is very easy-going and daddy can’t wait to be is very accommodating and loving. I truly believe Charlotte (their daughter) which is out now is very fortunate to have such parents! *Applause!
Appreciate Cheryl for allowing me to post some of the pictures.
It has been awhile since I last blog due to work, family and time for myself. Hardly have time to relax and reflect back on 2010 events. After reviewing last year up’s and down’s, I decided to take things slowly this year, prioritize on what is really important and focus on one task at a time, giving my best, rather than multi tasking. Although multi-tasking gets a lot things done but personally I’m not satisfied with the results.
Looking back at last year photos, somehow rather I feels that my pictures are lacking of something, but I can’t really express what is missing. This year I hope I can find that out what is the missing puzzle. I believe solving the riddle will bring a new whole perspective to my photography. I guess I have to go back to basic and work my way up to find that answer.
To begin, I am now using back my Canon 450D with the 18-55 kit lens. As many have mentioned before, limiting your gear will make you think harder to achieve the shot and improve your creativity. For me with the 450D, I realise that I tend to focus more on the frame rather than on the technical side of the camera (eg: ISO, focus.. etc).
I made me remember on very important lesson, it’s not the gear you are using or how well you know the camera, or how clear the image is, most important is what is in the frame that will captive you in the first glance!
Below are some pictures I took using my 450D, hope you will enjoy the photos like I did
SHAPES Photography has just moved to a new content management website vendor www.squarespace.com. Please visit us at www.shapes.sg
The new web hosting allow us to have unlimited storage so this allows us to load tons of images. We will be uploading heaps of images in the near future and those that we previously did not upload due to constraint from the previous web hosting.
This is an exciting period for SHAPES Photography as we can now better manage our content on the web due to the flexibility that new web hosting got to offer. We are still amidst of filling more contents into the website, so please bear with us at the time being.
Did a photoshoot of a very cute baby by the name of Stevlynn. Very active and cheerful girl. The photos were taken at Stevlynn’s home. Quite a challenging assignment as the house have narrow corridors and lighting was quite dim in certain parts of the house. Bounce flash, diffused flash, fill flash, all the different flash technique were used in order to get an “ok” exposure for all the shots. Nevertheless the images turn out well despite the challenging environment.
Kenji and Sachi Pre-Wedding Photobook, just out from the oven..
Recently did a pre-wedding shot for a nice, fun-loving couple Kenji and Sachi. Really enjoyed working with them, they were easy going, patience, soft spoken.. Basically they are just very cool..
The weather did not turn out too well that day, after we first section of our shooting at botanic gardens it started raining cat and dogs. It lasted for a couple of hours till 4pm in the afternoon. But luckily the rain did stop and we proceed with the shooting at Sentosa. Don’t get me wrong, I did my homework as usual checking the weather forecast on that day and it did say clear weather for the WHOLE DAY *NOT!
Nevertheless the pre-wedding shoot turn out very well. I would say this is my best works so far but I will keep striving to be even better. Below are the photos which I really like, hope you will like it too….
Note that all the shots were unplanned, everything was taken base on what I can see and feel while we were there… I prefer natural posing, so I only told the Kenji and Sachi to roughly pose in a certain manner and let them free style by themselves. Therefore the way they stand, sit and feel for each other is at their most natural form. I guess what I am trying to say is that I want to capture THEM of their usual self not asking them to pose and do things which are so NOT THEM..
The shot I love the most is the one below. It was taken with the help of a group of Singapore Poly Students while they are having some campus function at Sentosa beach. While we were walking along beach, I sudden thought of the shot in my mind and immediate ask their lecturer for permission and he said with “Yes of course they would love to!” . I dare say this is a very unique shot which is not easy pull off unless you can get so many students to help out
After makeup shot. Like the clean cut , sunlight shinning on her face
